At Pee Dee Orthopaedic Associates, our physicians and staff pride ourselves on our expertise with work-related injuries and illnesses covered under workers compensation. We understand the specific challenges presented by industrial illnesses and injuries.

We know that early diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries is key to helping injured employees quickly return to maximum employment potential.  We believe in working collectively with the patients, the employers, case managers, and the insurance carriers to ensure that post-injury care and rehabilitation runs smoothly. Our physicians have received special training in workers compensation report writing to assure that our written communications are rateable and meet all accepted legal standards.

Pee Dee Orthopaedic has specialized in caring for injured workers for forty years and we take your recovery seriously. Please be aware of the following information:

• Your initial appointment must be authorized by your insurance carrier.
• Please make sure you get a work-status note filled out at each visit to Pee Dee Orthopaedic.
• A case manager may be assigned to your case. If so, he/she may be present at your appointment. You are also entitled to a private exam. If you desire a private exam, the case manager will be called in after the exam to discuss the findings with you and your physician.
• All tests, surgeries, and therapy ordered must be authorized by your insurance carrier/employer prior to scheduling. Our scheduling staff will call the insurance carrier and case manager for this authorization. Once authorization has been obtained, the scheduling staff is notified and scheduling can begin. Our scheduling staff will work with your case manager and insurance carrier to obtain authorization for any tests, surgeries, or therapies your doctor orders.
  
  We also offer occupational therapy for post-injury rehabilitation. We will be happy to customize a therapy program specific for the injured worker. All we need is a copy of the current job demands or job description, and a specific rehabilitation program will be established to simulate the work environment. Along the way, we will also communicate progress and any safety concerns. We have found this approach is best for the injured worker and the employer. It keeps the returning employee safe, optimizes recovery post-injury, and minimizes lost time from work. It also assures the employer is getting back an employee who is ready to safely perform the demands of the job.
