Physical Medicine (Physiatry)

Our Pee Dee Spine Center offers services by a board certified physiatrist.  Our physiatry services focus on the treatment of acute and chronic conditions including muscoskeletal disorders, spine injuries, and chronic pain syndrome. Our goal is to offer each patient the highest quality of life by strengthening and restoring range of motion, physical ability, and self-sufficiency where possible, without surgical procedures.

Physiatry is a form of rehabilitative medicine to achieve better physical health and healing without surgery, through practices including various therapies, injections, medications, and other non-invasive methods. Complete Electrodiagnostic services to include Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies are offered through the Spine Center and conducted on site by the physiatrist. Treatment options for Epidural Steroid Injections (ESI) and Radiofrequency Ablation are performed under the state-of-the-art imaging equipment in our Center, making it convenient for our patients to get the services that they need all under one umbrella.

Electrodiagnostic Medicine

Our services include Electromyography- EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies- NCS

EMG/Nerve Conduction Studies are useful tests to study the nerves in the arms and legs. The test determines whether or not the patient has a pinched nerve in the neck, spine, or extremities. These diagnostic tests may be ordered when your doctor wants to confirm that you have carpal tunnel syndrome, a peripheral neuropathy, or other nerve entrapment syndrome. The EMG/NCS is a non-invasive test and may cause the patient mild discomfort. This test is often correlated with MRIs and physical examination to determine whether or not surgery is needed.
